Pixel 4 event highlights Products Google has launched and how they are going to change the android app development game

After Apple and Microsoft, Google gathered hundreds of tech bloggers, news reporters, and YouTubers to present new hardware products which are by the way very appealing.

Google held an annual “Made By Google” hardware event in New York City where the search giant revealed many new gears including much-anticipated next-generation of Google Pixel smartphones.

Though ‘hardware’ was on limelight during the whole hardware event, they have, knowingly or unknowingly, exhibited a groundbreaking software which makes that hardware purposeful and will change the game of android app development.

Pixel 4 event highlights:

» Google Stadia

Cloud gaming is the future of gaming and Google knows it very well. Thus, they decided to jump into the cloud gaming market as the early player by launching Google Stadia. It is the cloud gaming service which is capable of streaming video games up to 4K resolution at 60 FPS. It also supports high-dynamic-range.

Google announced that Google Stadia cloud gaming service will be accessible on the desktop through Google Chrome browser and on televisions through smartphone and Chromecast. Players can also live stream the games on YouTube as Google has successfully achieved integration of Stadia with Youtube.

Google Stadia service will be launched on November 19th.

» Pixel Buds

Finally, Google has its own answer to Airpods! Google Pixel Buds will cost $179 and Google will start shipping it in Spring 2020. Google claims that 5 hours is the output of the single charge which is not plentiful for some of the heavy users. However, the floss-style charging case is sufficient to provide an additional 24 hours’ worth of charge.

Talking about the most highlighted feature of the Pixel Buds, it can adapt the sound based on your environment and cancel the background noise like the wind.

» Pixelbook Go

Google hasn’t launched high-end Chrome OS laptop since a while. But with the Pixelbook Go, Google has shattered the illusion that Google is leaving the laptop market!

Pixelbook Go is enjoying 13.3” display, 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Google promises that the battery of Pixelbook Go easily lasts up to 12 hours.

The reason why Google Pixelbook Go is the most prominent launch of the event is because of its price. For the first time, Google has launched its Chromebook with an affordable price tag. Here are the specifications and price of all variants.

  • $649: 8GB RAM, 64GB SSD, FHD, 8th Gen Intel Core m3
  • $849: 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, FHD, 8th Gen Intel Core i5
  • $999: 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, FHD, 8th Gen Intel Core i5
  • $1,399: 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, UHD, 8th Gen Intel Core i7

All these variants of Pixelbook Go come in two colours: just black and not pink. Pixelbook Go is defined by soft and has rounded corners. It is also made out of magnesium and not aluminium. Google has already justified their choice by stating that magnesium is having a better strength-to-weight ratio than aluminium.

» New Nest Aware

Nest is the brand of the Google used to market smart home products including smart security doorbells, cameras and locks.

Nest Aware enables you to add a recording of the Nest cameras to the cloud. For that, Google used to charge a few bucks per device. But, now it is a flat fee. All you need to pay is $6 per month and the video files of all devices get stored on the cloud.

» Nest Wifi

The router has been that one piece of technology which has witnessed the least innovations in the last few years. But now, finally, Google has decided to take routers into account and make them futuristic or (according to Google) hybrid!

The new Nest Wifi is having an in-built smart speaker. In other words, Google has combined the router and smart speaker and launched a hybrid router/smart speaker! Since Nest Wifi router is having in-built smart speaker, you can control the WiFi settings with voice commands and router can process your commands more easily than previously. The Nest Wifi will be available this November.

» New Nest Mini

Google has rebranded Google Home Mini as Nest Mini. But that’s not all Google has declared!

Google has also declared that the new Nest Mini is now wall-mountable without any adapter. It now offers double bass. It is armed with new machine learning chip for faster response. And more microphones have been assembled to work better in louder environments.

Google will start shipping it from October 22nd for $49.

» Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL

Google has also revealed its flagship Android phone and officially ended the endless series of leaks!

Like always, Google has launched two flagship phones under its Pixel lineup. First is Pixel 4 and second is Pixel 4XL.

Talking about Pixel 4, it will come in at 5.7” with 2800 mAh battery. Whereas, Pixel 4XL comes in at 6.3” with 3700 mAh battery. The common things between Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL are Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB of RAM. Cameras of both phones are also identical – 12.2 megapixels f/ 1.7 main camera and a 16-megapixels f/2.4 telephoto lens along with 8 megapixels of front camera. Google’s AI-centric image processing software increases the quality of the photos drastically. It also supports live HDR preview with dual exposure controls and an improved Night sight mode.

However, the main focus here for Google is radar chip inside which allows users to switch songs, snooze alarm and silence calls by waving a hand over the phone. These motion controls aren’t new things in the industry. But Google has enhanced the trustworthiness of it by bringing radar which actually detects hand movements better than a camera sensor.

» Here’s how Google’s radar chip works.

Radar uses radio waves to identify the size, location and proximity of the objects. This technology uses 60GHz radio frequency which doesn’t travel too far and successfully passed all safety requirements. However, Google hasn’t seized the approval from the Indian government to use 60GHz radio frequency in mobile and so, Google is not planning to launch Google Pixel 4/4XL in India, at least for now!

As of now, motion sensing is enabled in some of the system apps, but Google is planning to bring more system apps as well as third party apps under the same roof. That clearly means that the era of precise motion sensing or air gesture is coming and this time, it will change the game of android app development more brutally than past when Samsung, HTC and LG like companies have introduced camera-based motion sensing and influenced many android apps.

Coruscate is the top android app development company which has developed 200+ android apps. Our teams of developers and designers have already earned expertise to develop an app which has the gesture as well as motion-sensing features. Having such features in the app increases the usefulness and appeal. You can contact us to share your requirements and know the cost of development.
