Uber is launching a staffing business in Chicago on Friday to supply on-demand workers to other businesses. This new business will be called Uber Works which will be led by Andrey Liscovich. They are planning to grow quickly with their temporary staffing. 

Working with Uber Works is somewhat distinctive because employers need workers for defined shifts. Uber is ready to partner with staffing agencies, starting with TrueBlue, to manage the paperwork for employment screening, verification, and payroll.

Uber seems to be intentionally dodging becoming the official employer of the workers it provides by partnering with staffing agencies. 

They have built the technology platform to resolve the difficulty for workers. It is not a surprise that the contract-staffing business is still largely analog.

Uber is always searching for profitability, it’s looking for ways to turn more revenue out of its trademark and technology platform. Uber already has 3.9 million drivers in its taxi industry, also has 400,000 drivers in its freight service. Uber Works will initiate the platform to workers outside transport.

Uber Works will be made available to drivers to get a more assorted workforce than the ride-share client base. It will provide the platform to individuals who want to earn money but who don’t have cars.

Uber’s progress into staffing comes at a critical position for the gig economy. As more service workers find themselves fighting to win wage hikes and perks such as health insurance, there is a burgeoning political reaction. California lately announced a law that would compel companies such as Uber, Lyft, and Grubhub to treat gig workers as employees rather than contractors.

Another on-demand app Pared starts rates at $17.95 per hour for registered gigs. The firm states that the price is less than the rate for a fully loaded employee after taxes, benefits, insurance, and hiring expenses. On-demand prices are estimated at a base of $21.95 per hour for restaurants but increase to $29.95 to make it more engaging for a worker to affirm a job on such little notification.

 If an administrator approves the work of one of the Pared workers and wants to engage them full-time, the app charges a $500 to $1,000 fee. This fee is dependent on the position the person is proposed through the platform.

The apps work similar to the other Uber apps and have features where the workers are chosen based on the type of employment.
